Home design for a yoga instructor

9x9x9m cube interior excercise

18_edited.jpg

This project was an exercise for understanding clients needs as a part of our interior design course. The client we were presented with was Rachel Berryman, a yoga instructor who has dedicated her whole life to this passion of hers. The exercise was to create a cube 9m x 9m x 9m and reinvent it as a villa suitable for Rachels lifestyle. After analyzing the client, I approached the concept of yoga movement for this project. We all know the dynamics of yoga positions such as headstand, quarter dog pose etc.

This dynamic was translated into the rotation of the cube as if the villa is the one performing yoga. The dynamic is also showed in the interior space, creating 2 semi-floors and a calm green separation. The concept is reflected in nearly everything inside the villa and the main inspiration is the japanese home that our client loved as well as indian culture. There is no specific furniture style inside the villa, because we chose to personalize everything for our client.
